KEMILAU DANAU KELIMUTU, TELAGA TIGA WARNA DI PULAU FLORES

Danau Kelimutu juga dikenal sebagai Telaga Tiga Warna. Danau ini terletak di Desa Pemo, Kecamatan Kelimutu, Kabupaten Ende, Provinsi Nusa Tenggara Timur. Danau itu sendiri berada di atas gunung berapi yang disebut Gunung Kelimutu. Warna air di danau merah, biru dan putih. Menurut penduduk setempat, masing-masing warna ini memiliki arti dan tujuan tersendiri. Nama Danau Kelimutu berasal dari kata 'keli' dan 'mutu'. Keli artinya gunung dan Mutu artinya mendidih. Nama-nama warna Danau Kelimutu memiliki nama tersendiri dalam bahasa masyarakat setempat. Telaga Biru atau 'Tiwu Nuwa Muri Koo Fai' adalah tempat berkumpulnya arwah para pemuda yang telah meninggal. Telaga Merah atau “Tiwu Ata Polo” adalah tempat berkumpulnya arwah orang yang sudah meninggal, dan selama masih hidup mereka akan selalu melakukan santet. Telaga Putih atau 'Tiwu Ata Mbupu' adalah tempat berkumpulnya arwah orang tua yang sudah meninggal.

Ketiga telaga tersebut memiliki luas sekitar 1.051.000 meter persegi dan menampung 1.292.000 meter kubik air. Batas antar danau berupa dinding batu sempit yang rawan longsor. Tembok ini sangat curam dengan sudut kemiringan 70 derajat. Ketinggian dinding danau adalah 50-150 meter. Awalnya kawasan ini ditemukan pada tahun 1915 oleh Rio Van Souk Teren, seorang warga negara Belanda. Keindahannya telah dikenal luas sejak Y. Bowman menggambarkannya dalam bukunya tahun 1929. Sejak itu, turis asing datang untuk menikmati danau yang dikenal angker bagi masyarakat setempat. Tidak hanya dikunjungi oleh para pecinta alam, tetapi juga oleh para peneliti yang ingin mempelajari lebih lanjut tentang fenomena alam yang sangat langka ini. Kawasan Kelimutu ditetapkan sebagai suaka margasatwa nasional sejak 26 Februari 1992.

Dari Bandara El Tari di Kupang (ibukota Provinsi Nusa Tenggara Timur), Kita dapat terbang ke Ende (Bandara H. Hasan Aloe Bosman) di Pulau Flores dalam waktu sekitar 45 menit. Kita dapat mencapai Ende dengan berbagai maskapai seperti Wings Air, Karstar dan Garuda Indonesia. Harga tiket pesawat sekitar Rp 400.000 hingga Rp 800.000, dan lebih banyak lagi selama musim ramai. Sesampai di Ende, kita lanjut naik angkutan umum berupa minibus menuju Moni di kaki gunung, panjangnya sekitar 66 km dengan waktu tempuh 2,5-3 jam.

The Three Colours Lake is another name for Lake Kelimutu. This lake is located in the Pemo Village, Kelimutu District, Ende Regency, East Nusa Tenggara Province. The lake is located on top of Mount Kelimutu, a volcano. The lake's water is red, blue, and white in color. In the opinion of the locals, each of these colors has its own meaning and purpose. The terms "Keli" and "Mutu" are the origin of the name Lake Kelimutu. Keli means mountain and Mutu means boiling. The colors of Lake Kelimutu have names of their own in the dialect used by the local community. The Blue Lake or 'Tiwu Nuwa Muri Koo Fai' is a gathering place for the spirits of young people who have died. The Red Lake or "Tiwu Ata Polo" is a gathering place for the spirits of the dead, and as long as they are alive, they will always practice witchcraft. The White Lake or 'Tiwu Ata Mbupu' is a gathering place for the spirits of deceased parents.

About 1,051,000 square meters of water may be held in the three lakes, which have a total volume of 1,292,000 cubic meters. The lakes are separated by a short rock wall that is prone to landslides. This wall has a 70-degree slope, making it quite steep. The lake walls rise 50 to 150 meters above the water. Rio Van Souk Teren, a Dutch citizen, found this location in 1915. Since Y. Bowman described it in his 1929 book, its beauty has been widely recognized. Since then, travelers from other countries have come to explore the lake, which is rumored to be haunted by locals. Visitors include not just nature lovers, but also researchers interested in learning more about this extremely rare natural phenomenon. The Kelimutu area has been designated as a national wildlife reserve since February 26, 1992.

We can fly to Ende (H. Hasan Aloe Bosman Airport) on Flores Island in about 45 minutes from El Tari Airport in Kupang (capital of East Nusa Tenggara Province).
